Scallops with orange zest. Apple streusel muffins. Ham and onion omelet with bacon, pineapple and strawberries.
Burger with red peppers, onions, and sliced avocado. Chocolate chili (using unsweetened cocoa as a spice) for dinner.
Today there were scrambled eggs. salads, sushi, dark chocolate, amazing chicken, sweet potato fries, and a martini made at home.
Sticking to my goals so far. My husband is doing great too! Very proud of us.
The husband has decided to go all “Whole30 with Exceptions” starting on Monday. I needed this to get back on track! More food pictures are coming! :)
So, what are the exceptions? Exceptions must be mutually agreed upon as true exceptions because they are very special occasions, like our son’s birthday or holidays or the very rare vacation. And because really, a life without cake is a joyless life.
I am also going to allow myself to have fine wine and spirits (but no beer), rice (because it is necessary for sushi) and high quality dark chocolate.
What I’ve learned since finishing Whole30… I need rules or it just all falls apart. I need a strict “NO” list to guide me with every meal choice or I just won’t make the best choices. I will always find a reason or excuse to eat the “bad stuff”. Hopefully by creating my own rules I can get this good thing going again!
Pain and More Pain!
That stomach pain is back again. Not as crippling as earlier this week and no almond butter was involved.
Yesterday the non-paleo foods included some dairy and red wine.
Sometimes I feel like Whole30 “ruined” me even though I know it really fixed me and now I just can’t tolerate less-healthy things.
Weighed myself today and I still weigh the same (I’m actually surprised by this) so at least I haven’t gone too far off track.
I probably should go to the doctor for this stomach pain though if I can’t figure out exactly what’s causing it.
Death by Almond Butter
Crawling back on the wagon…
I think I may have found an unpleasant connection between nuts and how my body reacts to nuts.
I had an apple with almond butter the other night and I was subsequently up the entire night with extreme stomach pain and intestinal difficulties. I can’t remember the last time I was in that much pain.
It has happened on and off to varying degrees since I did Whole30. I thought maybe it was too much acid/acid reflux, but now I believe it is caused specifically by nuts or almond butter.
I’m wondering if I should get tested for an allergy, or just avoid nuts for a while and see how I feel.
Kinda fell off during the holiday weekend and finding it tough to get back on it!
It is hard to do this when everyone around you is having sweets.
Need to get back into a regular routine. Fast.
- Hard boiled eggs!
- Leftover steak, peppers, onions
- Mango salsa
- Apple with almond butter (LOVE)
And… a half of a black & white cookie which I enjoyed every bite of and split with a friend. It was so incredible that my cheeks got flush because I was so excited by this damn cookie.
